The
DNA of Performance
Identifying, Prioritizing
and Calibrating Performance Criteria
One difficulty organizations
have in implementing effective Human Resource strategies is defining
the selection criteria most important for performance in positions.
Before an organization can design selection systems aimed at hiring
top performers; they must first identify what it takes to achieve superior
performance in a position.
In many of today's flatter,
leaner organizations, soft skills have become at least as important,
if not more important than technical skills. The DNA of Performance
Competency Based Position Analysis was designed to assist organizations
in defining the soft-skill or core competency requirements. Positions
are very difficult to analyze because different people performing the
analysis see the job differently. There are three different ways people
view a position; how they would like to perform the job, how the
job is actually being performed and how the job should be performed.
The DNA of performance is
a system for analyzing the unique configuration of Skills, Intelligence,
Behavior, Attitudes and Beliefs required by a specific job. When you
match a person who brings those unique talents to the job, you are on
your way to "predicting" superior performance.
If a position could talk,
what would it say?
How would the JOB describe
the type of attitude, skills, belief and knowledge needed for optimal
performance? The DNA of Performance asks the right questions in all
areas needed to clarify the key competencies required for the position.
